Dr Laura J Tennant

Dr Laura Tennant - Trouw Nutrition Technical Advisor

Dr Laura Tennant graduated with a PhD in ruminant nutrition from the University of Nottingham in 2017. Following this Laura was Head of Youngstock at the Centre for Dairy Science Innovation at the University of Nottingham for 2.5 years, this role provided a solid foundation understanding of the complexities of practical calf rearing whilst allowing exposure to the latest research technologies covering a wide range of calf topics.

In 2019 Laura joined Trouw Nutrition GB providing practical and applicable advice as the Young Animal Feed Technical Advisor. Laura is passionate about hydration in young calves

Georgina Thomas

Georgina Thomas - Trouw Nutrition Technical Sales Manager Europe

Georgina is the Technical Sales Manager for Young Animal Feed for Europe and Central Asia, working for Trouw Nutrition. Georgina graduated from the University of Nottingham before entering the feed industry to work as a ruminant nutritionist. Georgina has developed a passion for early life nutrition and now has a focus on the development and formulation of milk replacers for young calves. Georgina works to translate cutting edge science and research into practical on farm solutions that help to elevate calf performance to the next level.

Dr Aaron Brown

Dr Aaron Brown - Trouw Nutrition Technical Sales Manager

Technical Sales Manager for Young Animal Feeds in the Atlantic region. Joined Trouw Ireland in 2022, providing technical support to customers and farmers on pre-weaned youngstock nutrition and management after having completed a PhD in Calf Housing and Nutritional management at QUB/AFBI.

Dr Ryan Davies

Dr. Ryan Davies - SCCL Veterinary Consultant 

Dr. Ryan Davies spent 21 years in farm animal clinical practice before starting his own consultation company, VTC Ltd, targeting preventative health medicine and the reduction in the use of antibiotics in farm animals.  He provides Veterinary technical consultation services to SCCL, a recent highlight in his career was presenting in 2024 as a keynote speaker at the World Buiatrics Congress in Cancun, Mexico.  He is currently undertaking a study into the supplementation of passive immunity and the definition of transition milk feeding in a pasture based, spring calving dairy herd, which was partly funded by Farming Connect. 

Kat Baxter-Smith

Kat Baxter-Smith BVetMed CertAVP(EM) MRCVS (Uttoxeter Roadshow) - MSD Sector Veterinary Adviser

Kat graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2010, she worked in mixed practices (equine and farm animal) in the UK for 7 years and completed an advanced certificate in large animal and equine internal medicine. She has been with MSD for 7 years, firstly as a field veterinary adviser and now as Sector Veterinary Adviser for Sheep and Beef. Her main field of interest is cattle youngstock health and she has published several papers in this area. Recently she has been focussing on respiratory health, specifically thoracic ultrasound in calves which she has pioneered as a diagnostic technique in the UK.   

Bridget Girvan

Bridget Girvan BVM&S, MRCVS (Carlisle Roadshow) - MSD Ruminant veterinary adviser

Bridget graduated from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Edinburgh. After working as a mixed practice vet for eight years, she diversified in 2014 and became a ruminant veterinary adviser for MSD covering Scotland and Northern England. Her main interests lie in flock health and beef herd health.  Since 2022, Bridget has been dedicating more time to the family farm while also providing veterinary consultancy services.  She is currently back with MSD covering Northern England whilst a colleague is on maternity leave.  Outside of her veterinary work, Bridget assists on the farm, attempts to herd her two children and enjoys walking, mountain biking, and skiing  

Jon Mayer

Jon Mayer PgCert, BVM, BVS, BVMedSci, MRCVS (Welshpool Roadshow)

Jon is originally from a family dairy farm in North Shropshire. He graduated from the University of Nottingham and has since worked as a large animal vet in the Southwest across the midlands, north/mid Wales and New Zealand. He briefly returned to Nottingham University to split his time between research, teaching final year students and clinical practice. 

His current area of interest is how on farm technology and pro-active planning can be used to reduce workload on farm while enhancing welfare and efficiency.   

Paul Williams

Paul Williams BVSc MRCVS (Exeter Roadshow) - MSD Ruminant Technical Manager,

Paul Williams is a graduate of the School of Veterinary Medicine, Liverpool University, United Kingdom. Prior to working in industry he has worked both within the government’s State Veterinary Service and in private practice. He joined MSD in 2004 (as part of Schering Plough Animal Health) and is currently their Ruminant Technical Manager, managing a team of regional veterinary advisors. 
Paul has been actively involved in the support of the company’s portfolio of bovine respiratory disease and neonatal products and is passionate about improving the health and welfare of young stock in the dairy sector. Paul works with several organisations in the UK in promoting a more proactive approach to disease control in this area and best practice use of vaccination. covering Scotland and Northern England.
